Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the agency that administers Aadhaar, has said plastic Aadhaar cards are unusable and prone to data theft.

The report also mentioned that the National Informatics Centre is preparing a software ‘Sarthi-4’ under which all licences will link to Aadhaar. The software will cover all the states on a real-time basis, and it will not be possible for anyone in India, to get a duplicate or fake licence, according to the report.
Many countries around the world use a unique identity system whereby each citizen receives a number that hold all details pertinent to their identity under it. The government of India has also sought such a system India and have called it Aadhaar, which is also referred to as UID. They then intend to use this number to provide benefits to the citizens through the Aadhaar number.
