The Government is bringing a new Vehicle Scrap Policy to remove 15 years old vehicles from transport. Currently it is being finalized. Under this policy, a proposal for encouragement from the Central and State Governments and tax will be introduced. However, this proposal will have to seek GST approval, then it can be implemented.
The name of this new policy being brought by the government can be a voluntary vehicle modernization policy.
Under which about 2.8 crore old vehicles are likely to be removed from on-road. The sources said that three-pronged promotional policy is being brought for this.
The vehicle owner will get the scrap value of the old vehicles. Apart from this, the central and the state government will encourage some, which will be done as tax benefits. Nitin Gadkari says that if the 15-year-old vehicle used for business is scraped, then the industry will increase by 22% and the pollution will decrease. After the introduction of this proposal, the level of pollution can be reduced by 65%. In September 2017, the ten-year-old diesel vehicles were ordered to be removed from the national highway (NGT) vehicle on the Delhi NCR road.
The appeal was made against the industry by the heavy industry but the NGT rejected it. The Supreme Court rejected the appeal challenging a stay order on vehicles. The NGT, which heads the report of the Central Pollution Board, said that the use of diesel vehicles is very harmful and deadly. In the Central Government policy, commercially intelligent vehicles will also be included. The Delhi government is planning to bring scraps to the car. Running on the road, older vehicles are not compatible with the new Euro-4 emissions standards, which were introduced from April 1, 2017. Since April 2020, the vehicle industry has been told to comply with the Euro-6 standards.
